Attention affiliate managers of the world: Err on the side of caution and conversation when you screw up. Try and fix the problem instead of attacking the communities that support your company. Slightly Shady SEO went out on a limb and posted the seemingly highly controversial story of Clickbooth and their brigade of lawyers [ALLEGEDLY] throwing around C&D’s and [ALLEGEDLY] suing for emotional distress. Bunch of fucking [ALLEGED] cunt puppies.

Go check out the story and Sphinn it, Stumble it, and whatever else it. And hey Sphinn….don’t be like the Chinese government and take it down, it’s [ALLEGEDLY] a legitimate story that should be seen.

Affiliate Marketing The Fun Way…With Boobs!

by TheMadHat on March 7, 2008

Shop PlayboyStore.com Now!Shop the Bunny Shop Now!So I have three real SEO posts I’m working on, and I’ve been boiling over getting ready for a rant…but I figured I write about boobs and hot chicks instead. I joined up with the Pepperjam Affiliate Network today to see what they have that’s different than every other network out there. Well, for starters they have PLAYBOY! What better network to join when you can put cool stuff like this and make money off of it. I’m so excited that you may have trouble reading the rest of this post simply because of all the T & A everywhere. Going and actually buying something from there will get you all kinds of love from me ;)

Anyway, on to the marketing part…Just kidding.

Shop the Bunny Shop Now!

Okay, now on to the marketing part…for real. One thing that immediately jumped out was the ability to create custom ad blocks with whatever publishers and whatever ads you want in them. I’ve left them up over on the left sidebar for a sneak peak (I don’t really like text ads so they’ll be gone soon). It will auto-rotate your ads in and out and this way you can make them as relevant as you like. Here is a video from Pepperjam on creating the custom ads:

Pretty slick stuff and not something I’ve seen at any other network (disclaimer: I’m not much into affiliate marketing, although I hope to change that soon). There are a couple advertisers in there that all of us know. SEOmoz (How dare Rand and crew associate themselves with naked girls!) and Search Engine Strategies (I can see them associating with naked girls, they’re kinda shady). You can even get instructional DVD’s for sexual positions.Shop the Bunny Shop Now!

It appears they have around 150 advertisers right now so I’ll dig through it and pick something out and see if I can make it work. I’ll post again with how it goes. I’m also interested in what this post will rank for :) And just because I can:

UPDATE: Nick Wilsdon gets a link because he signed up for the Pepperjam Affiliate Network. You rule Nick, I owe you a beer. Everyone else who signs up I owe a beer to as well.

Music123 Screws Affiliates

by TheMadHat on December 22, 2006

Just had this nice letter land in my mailbox…

Dear Music123 Affiliate,

I wanted to inform about what’s been going on here at Music123. If you haven’t caught the news of late, Music123 / Woodwind & Brasswind filled for Chapter 11 bankruptcy the end of November and entered into what is called a 363 Sale Process. The 363 Sale process is a well accepted sale process designed to maximize the value of Music123 for the benefit of its customers, employees, creditors and shareholders.

Music123 will be operating in the ordinary course of business during the sale process, and will have the ability to satisfy its post-petition indebtedness. This means we will make payment on any commissions credited to you December 1st forward.

In light of the filing for Chapter 11, the company is prohibited by law from paying debts which arose prior to filing for Chapter 11. Unfortunately this means we will not be able to pay the past commissions due for October and November. The payment of those funds will be handled by the courts.

Two months of PPC down the hole. Sometimes we need to start paying more attention to the financial stability of the companies in our affiliate programs. Hopefully this one will work out in the end.
